Civil engineers make a huge impact on the world we live in and our quality of life. you’ll study all the major subjects that you need to master as a civil engineer, such as structures, fluids, geotechnics, materials, communications, environmental impact, surveying and mathematics. this course lets you sample the whole breadth of civil engineering, with opportunities to specialise as you progress. you could add individuality to your cv by spending time studying abroad or gaining valuable industrial experience through a placement, contributing significantly to your employability when you graduate.

ELP programs are offered by universities or pathway institutions to assist students in achieving the language proficiency required for academic studies. You can get admitted to your course with a lower language requirement if you do an ELP program.

An industrial placement year is a great way to help you decide what kind of career you might like when you graduate. as well as giving you the opportunity to develop your skills, you’ll gain a real insight into working life in a particular company or sector. with the help and support of our dedicated employability team, you can choose to undertake a salaried industrial placement year at one of the 100+ companies that we work with. if you decide to undertake a placement year this will extend your period of study by 12 months and, on successful completion, you will be awarded the ‘industrial’ variant in your degree title to demonstrate your added experience to future employers. below are examples of placements our students have recently completed: bam nuttall jba bentley holdgate consulting mott macdonald laing o’rourke during your industrial placement you will have an industrial supervisor from within the company, plus an academic supervisor who will keep in touch throughout your placement.
