An effective marketing strategy and up-to-date business knowledge are key to the success of any modern company. this is where our course comes in. in your first year you will ground your learning in the field, covering a broad range of skills. during your second and third years you will have the opportunity to tailor your degree to suit your interests and career aspirations, in areas such as contemporary business practice, international marketing, marketing research, and customer management.the course is accredited by the chartered institute of marketing (cim), which means you leave with a degree that is recognised by one of the world’s leading professional marketing bodies that’s respected industry-wide.

During this course you will have the option to complete a paid placement year, an invaluable opportunity to put the skills developed during your degree into practice. this insight into the professional world will build on your knowledge in a real-world setting, preparing you to progress onto your chosen career. our careers programme dmu works can help to hone your professional skills with mock interviews and practice aptitude tests, and an assigned personal tutor will support you throughout your placement. previous students have taken up placements in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, including some international posts, with leading companies such as volvo group, dhl, pfizer, fedex, rolls royce, bosch, nike and saint gobain.

A degree in business and marketing prepares you for a whole range of career opportunities. you may decide on a marketing focused career such as digital marketing, brand management, customer service project management or market research. alternatively, you could follow a more business orientated route, with graduates choosing to pursue careers in business analysis, project management or sales management – to name but a few possibilities. recent graduates have progressed onto roles such as brand development executive at red bull, visual matching merchandiser at marks and spencer and pr and communications manager at honda.

Work while you study

You can also work on a UK student visa, from 10 to 20 hours per week during the academic year, 40 hours per week or full-time during vacations.
