Architectural Technology

Architectural technology is the technology of architecture — it’s all about creating and understanding design and turning ideas into reality.

ELP programs are offered by universities or pathway institutions to assist students in achieving the language proficiency required for academic studies. You can get admitted to your course with a lower language requirement if you do an ELP program.

You can expect on average 15 hours of direct contact time per week at levels 4 and 5 which may be in the form of lectures, tutorials, online activities and workshops in either the design studio or it room. in addition you should spend around 35 hours per week in private study which may be at home or in the library.

Chartered architectural technologists lead the technological design within architecture between concept, innovation and reality. you can set up your own practice, provide a full architectural design service and lead projects of all shapes and sizes from start to finish from new homes and hotels to shopping centres and sports stadia. you will play a pivotal role in the construction process and be complementary to other chartered disciplines in the built environment sector the most likely route for new graduates is to secure employment with an architectural practice or construction company to gain experience in the design process and to use technical knowledge and skills acquired at university to provide innovative solutions. you may be involved in various aspects including: preparing and presenting design proposals using cad/revit techniques and traditional methodsleading the detailed design process and co-ordinating detailed design information managing and co-ordinating the design team and associated professional consultants developing the project design, researching problems and producing, developing and advising upon innovative solutions producing, analysing and advising upon specification, materials selection and detailed design solutions in relation to performance and production criteria liaising with and producing documentation for statutory approval authorities

Work while you study

You can also work on a UK student visa, from 10 to 20 hours per week during the academic year, 40 hours per week or full-time during vacations.
