Financial Wealth Management

Suffolk’s wealth management major combines courses in finance, investment analysis, risk management, and retirement, estate, and financial planning to help you build strong analytical and decision-making skills. when you graduate, you will be prepared for a career in wealth management with a major firm, or to start your own wealth management business, helping individuals and companies plan for their financial futures. in addition, because the wealth management curriculum meets certified financial planner (cfp) board requirements, you will be eligible to take the cfp exam.

Students are required to complete 150 hours of wealth management-related professional experience (through internships or permanent employment) prior to graduation. through suffolk’s career development center, you will have access to an expansive database of internships. many high-profile businesses and agencies, such as bose, fidelity, merrill lynch, and the commonwealth of massachusetts, visit our campus to recruit student interns.

Services provided by wealth managers, financial planners, and related professionals are likely to stay in demand as the economy grows. with a degree in wealth management, you will have access to a multitude of job prospects as a financial planner; securities and financial services sales agent; employee benefits manager; retirement planner; investment advisor; estate planner; legacy planner; or risk analyst.

Work while you study

First-year students can only work on campus, and only under certain conditions. In the second year, students can work in practical, curricular or elective jobs. Students may be allowed to consider other types of employment, depending on their circumstances.
